In-home Organising and Decluttering (Melbourne only)
3 Hour Session @ $360
In my experience, 3 hours is long enough to make noticeable progress but short enough that you don’t get tired and make bad decisions. Longer sessions are available by arrangement.
I want you to enjoy your newly decluttered space (and not be tempted to second guess your decisions!) so at the end of each session I will take donations to the charity of your choice (up to one car load).
No contracts, no travel charges, no complicated packages or lock-in commitments. (I hate paperwork and don’t want to create more of it for you either). Nothing to buy – I bring everything we will need to get started. Payment is by direct debit at the end of each session.
I am fully insured and have a current Police Check.
30 Minute Session @$60
We found Skeletons in the Closet just in time to help us to help my mother to move towns and deal with a very difficult time in her life. From the outset, it was clear that Wendy was an expert in the management of complex hoarding situations. Her initial level headed guidance and support allowed us to bring the whole family together to understand the issues at hand and provide support for my mother during this difficult time. She explained the background and approaches that we could use to manage the situation, which proved invaluable as previously family members and other had not understood the illness.
Once our ‘project’ began, we found that having Wendy available to call and work through any problems and issues was absolutely critical to the success of the project and our own health. She provides a caring and empathetic ear to help analyse situations and events, giving us a sounding board to manage the ups and downs of the process. We absolutely could not have done this without Wendy’s help, you need a team to gather around people in these situations – and you could not ask for a better team coach and mentor than Wendy and Skeletons in the Closet.

Training and Education
If you are concerned about someone who is hoarding, I offer year-round online training through Hoarding Home Solutions – A Practical Approach to a Complex Problem.
Hoarding Homes Solutions is a collaboration between myself and my talented colleague and fellow Professional Organiser Angela Esnouf. It is the product of over a decade of education and hands on experience working with hoarding clients.
There is a lot of information out there about Hoarding Disorder but not a lot of practical advice. Hoarding Homes Solutions was built on the belief that with the right education, anyone entering a hoarded home can take steps to improve the safety and well-being of the occupants.
Specific courses have been tailored for:
- Friends and Family Members of People Who Hoard
- Independent Service Providers Working With People Living in Hoarded Homes
- Support Professionals Caring for Clients Who Hoard

Will you come to my house?
I offer hands on help for people living in Melbourne and telephone/skype mentoring for those located outside of Melbourne.
Do I need to be present while the work is being carried out?
Yes. I can make your home look lovely but if you haven’t been involved in the process it’s not going to last. I need you to work with me in order to create systems that suit your lifestyle and tap into your strengths.
Will you do a quote/consultation/plan before we get started?
No. I used to but learned that the first session was too early to know my client well enough to create a sensible plan. On more than one occasion, my well-intentioned plan became part of the clutter and left the client feeling like a failure because they were unable to execute it.
Will it be you that comes to my home?
Yes. All work is carried out by me personally and I only bring an assistant on site if you have specifically requested it. If you need specialist cleaning services or rubbish removal I have trusted suppliers that I can recommend as well.
Do you have signage on your car?
No. I take discretion very seriously. I don’t have car signage or wear a uniform. I’m happy to be your friend from book club or the gym if our work gets interrupted by a nosey neighbour or loved one!
Will you make me throw things away?
No. It’s your stuff. I will make suggestions, and help you make decisions in line with your goals but the final decision of what to keep and what to let go of is always yours.
Can you sell items for me?
No. I don’t sell unwanted goods on my clients’ behalf. I can recommend ways to dispose of items and will sense check your plans to have a garage sale, sell items online, at auctions and markets. I will also take up to a car load of goods for donation to charity at the completion of each session.
What should I buy before our first session?
Nothing! I will bring the tools and supplies we need.
How long do you think it will take?
It really comes down to how decisive you are and how quickly you’re prepared to work. A spare bedroom that takes three hours for one person can take three days for another.
What if my house is the worst you’ve ever seen? I’m afraid you are going to judge me.
It’s not about me or how I think you should live. It’s all about creating a home that looks, feels and functions the way you want it to. My only exception to this rule is if I believe the clutter is putting you or your loved ones at risk and then we’ll talk about how to make your home safe. One of my clients said to me, “I thought you were going to be a Sargent Major but you are actually very nice”.
